The house and the flower
Love and faith, life, meeting, smile, earth and Sky, peace, justice and war, effort, ecstasy and calm, dream, desire, joy, gaze, stories and science, knife and pen, hand, tooth and foot, the remains, the city and its people, the walls, the affection and pain, graffiti, inscriptions on a coloured floor, gorgeous, precision, presence and magic: these are the materials of this artist.
The work of Bernardo Ramalho (though still so Young) translates into a vibrant and transgressive architecture. Historical contexts as social or economic differences, or even the history of art, through Basquiat or Rauschenberg or Victor Arruda, are just the background or support for an attitude full of freshness and vitality in life and art.
Another important aspect of his work is religiosity, not as a "pop" as Nelson Leirner or colourful and delicate tragedy as Rosana Palazyan. For Bernardo drawing the word LOVE means talking to God, Faith, Blood and Struggle.
The deal is this: Ramalho has built his beautiful house, with its flowery gardens of dreams as only a very special person can do.
With love,
Edmilson Nunes
